Over a quarter of the restaurant industry is Latino, 20 percent of the workforce speaks Spanish, and nearly 10 percent is undocumented. It also has one of the highest rates of wage theft and other labor abuses. The last two years have upended the industry and workers are both refusing to return to work and organizing to change these conditions. This meeting will serve as a space to bring worker centers and unions together around a restaurant worker bill of rights to demand a new future for the industry.
